Head Dinkler

Head of College

The Head of College acts as the chief administrative officer of the residential college and presides over its intellectual and social life, as well as having responsibility for its facilities and the general wellbeing of its students. She both lives and works in the college, and the Head of College House serves as a venue for many kinds of events and student gatherings.

Head Dinkler, who has been on the Yale faculty for 10 years, is an expert in the areas of religious studies and contemporary literary theory, and her scholarly work focuses on narratives and storytelling, particularly the ways they reflect and shape communities. She has published and edited numerous books, chapters, and articles, and she is a research fellow at Universität Regensburg, and a research associate at the University of Pretoria. Born and raised in California, Professor Dinkler attended Stanford University for her B.A. and M.A. in English Literature, Gordon-Conwell Seminary for her M.Div., and Harvard University for her doctorate in New Testament and Early Christian History. Professor Dinkler has had years of experience supporting students from vastly diverse backgrounds as they have prepared for vastly diverse futures. She is also an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA). More about her research can be found at her Yale Divinity School faculty page.

Head Dinkler and Associate Head of College, Dr. John Dinkler live in the college with their two children, Alethea and Daelen, and their mini goldendoodle, Atticus.

John Dinkler

Associate Head of College

Associate Head of College, Dr. John Dinkler, is a cardiologist who practices at Consulting Cardiologists, PC in Wallingford and serves as the director of outpatient quality at Hartford Healthcare’s Heart and Vascular Institute. Born and raised in California, Dr. Dinkler attended UC Davis for his B.A., Boston University School of Medicine for his M.D. and BU School of Public Health for an M.P.H., and he completed residency at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston. He also has a Ph.D. in health policy from UCLA.

Samantha Gabardella

Assistant Director of Operations

Samantha Gambardella (she/her) comes from a long career of event management and food service. In her role as Assistant Director of Operations, she is responsible for helping to manage the student aides’ team, planning events throughout the academic year and manage the specialty spaces in the college. In addition, she is working very hard to enhance the spaces throughout Timothy Dwight College and breath life back into areas such as the Selin Lounge, Recording Studio, Computer Labs, Common Spaces, Thompson Room and more. Her passions are cooking, snowboarding, camping and her family, expecting her first son in November of 2025 as well as working with the students at Timothy Dwight College. Maggie Schnyer

Chubb Program Administrator

Maggie Schnyer (she/her) graduated from Timothy Dwight College in 2024 with a B.A. in Computing and the Arts (music track) and a certificate in Education Studies. Before returning to TD, she worked as Producer at the Yale Center for Collaborative Arts and Media (CCAM) and spent some time solo travelling internationally. As a student, she was most involved with DPops and the Cinemat. She’s now a composer, programmer, and multimedia artist with Five Points Arts in northwest Connecticut.
