Elsa Holahan is from New Haven, Connecticut and she majors in American Studies at Yale. She is interested in carceral systems from an academic, organizing, and policy perspective.
On campus, Elsa serves as an Academic Strategies Mentor through the Poorvu Center, offering academic mentorship and resources to both Yale students on campus and those in the Yale Prison Education Initiative at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution. Elsa has also enjoyed participating in the Cultural Centers at Yale by working as a Student Assistant at the Afro American Cultural Center and being a Counselor for Cultural Connections.
Timothy Dwight College has been one of Elsa’s favorite parts about Yale. Whether attending the annual berry brunch, staffing the Buttery, or organizing critical history walking tours out of the college, Elsa has found incredible community and grounding in TD.
To conjoin her New Haven and TD residencies, Elsa serves as a Co-Chair on the City’s Democratic Town Committee, representing Ward 22 (TD’s ward). She is excited to welcome first years to TD, and to support students as they create meaningful relationships to the City of New Haven and its people.
