Gabriel “Gabe” Saavedra Ramos is from Lima, Peru, and also lived in Western Massachusetts for his high school education. He is majoring in Computer Science and Economics with a language certificate in Chinese. Having lived between two countries, Gabe loves to meet Yalies from all parts of the world and learn about various cultures and ways of life abroad. On campus, he has served as a Peer Liaison for the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) and is actively involved in his club, the Yale Innovators Student Media Network (YIN), a club focusing on interviewing startups, NGOs, and VC fellows from Yale and the Greater New Haven community. He is also actively involved in the Peruvian Students Association (YAPE), and does macroeconomic research focusing on the impact, development, and improvement of domestic and international trade systems in Peru.
Gabe also enjoys practicing martial arts like Tae Kwon Do and Jiu JItsu, and playing Intramurals (IMs) sports for TD. His other hobbies include travelling (including studying abroad in Beijing, China for a summer + visiting friends around the world), hiking, cooking (global cuisines and buttery sandwiches), and late night FIFA 14 matches. Most importantly, Gabe is a proud TDer who has loved every minute of living in his college and enjoying the community and life that it has to offer.
He is very excited to be a FroCo and can’t wait to meet the Class of 2030!
